Lento (South Yarra) 08/2011

Beneath the radar of the Age Good Food Guide and too expensive for CheapEats this family restaurant makes it into the fine dining section of the Entertainment Book. (25% off your bill up to $35). They have a modest menu and also offer two courses and a glass of wine, ($35) which is very good value.
A mountain goat looks down on the patrons

at one end of the ground floor room and there is another space for overflow or functions upstairs. It's a nice comfortable and friendly place to eat. The menu is Italian, the pasta home made and the dishes have a homely warmth about them.
We were offered a welcoming small cup of warm cauliflower, leek and potato soup

before our orders arrived.
A grilled haloumi was pleasantly unremarkable.

Pork belly with mash potato had plenty of crisp crackling
but the pick of our meals was the whole baby snapper.
This was a pre theatre dinner so we did not have a lot of time 'tho we did out best not to just eat and run.
Service is particularly friendly and the food quite good.
Score 13.5/20
